Your CRS Score Is Not Fixed
Most Express Entry candidates look at their CRS score and treat it as a fact. It is not — it is a starting point. Start by using IMMERGITY's Eligibility Assessment to get your current CRS score and a clear picture of which programs you qualify for right now. Then use this guide to identify your highest-value moves.
The CRS Score Framework
- Core human capital factors — age, education, language, Canadian work experience
- Spouse/partner factors — spouse language and education
- Skill transferability — combinations of education, language, and work experience
- Additional points — provincial nominations (+600), Canadian education, siblings in Canada, French language bonus
Lever 1: Language Improvement — The Highest ROI Move
Moving from CLB 7 to CLB 9 in all four abilities adds up to +82 CRS points total. Use the CLB Converter Tool to see exactly where your scores sit and how much room you have to improve.
Lever 2: French Language — Bonus Points Most Candidates Ignore

Including a spouse adds up to 40 points for their language and education — but only if their scores are strong. If your spouse has weak language scores, including them can reduce your CRS. Always model both scenarios. Use IMMERGITY's Eligibility Assessment to run both calculations.
Lever 4: Canadian Education
- 1–2 year Canadian credential: +15 points
- 3+ year Canadian credential: +30 points
Lever 5: Sibling in Canada
A Canadian citizen or PR sibling (18+) earns you +15 CRS points — frequently overlooked.
Lever 6: Provincial Nomination — The Nuclear Option
A PNP Enhanced nomination adds +600 CRS points — effectively guaranteeing an ITA regardless of base score. Use IMMERGITY's PNP Program Finder and read our complete PNP guide.
Lever 7: Category-Based Draw Eligibility
Category draws invite candidates at CRS cutoffs 20–60 points lower than all-program draws. Read our complete category draws guide to check your NOC eligibility.
